That’s not too bad for this time of year. There’s still time to get one by Halloween.
Shipping change
I’m about out of shipping containers, and pricing out my next batch, I realized that I can get white boxes in the same size for a slight increase in cost. It’s fairly negligible, but if everybody’s happy with the brown, there’s not a lot of point in taking on any extra cost. I will point out that Jayne’s original box was white, although my box doesn’t have the same dimensions. That’s because a) the foldy boxes are expensive enough that I’d have to raise prices, and b) shallow enough that I worry people would accidentally slice their hats opening the box.
Here’s an old pic of a brown box. The white box would be exactly the same size and dimension. I think the stamps would really pop on the white. I’m curious as to what people think.
The Bear They Call Jayne
Is it Jayne-themed underwear with suspenders?
No!
Charlotte Browncoat Audrey Hackett is costuming Firefly-themed bears for auction at Charlotte’s Can’t Stop The Serenity screening this weekend. I made the Jayne bear’s hat and will return the bear to her to be outfitted with more cunning gear – including a tiny Vera.
I’ve seen the completed Wash, and it is AWESOME. Fantastic idea, Audrey!
Verdict: Comfy!
WearWithStyle‘s quality control manager inspects Jayne hats bound for Texas’s Can’t Stop The Serenity showings this weekend.
Check for a Serenity screening near you!
ETA: Usually my yarn is kept in plastic bags. She just happened to find those on the couch while I was getting boxes ready. Most of the hats are not rubbed on cats, I promise.
Shiny!
It’s not you, it’s me.
I’ve heard from several folks this week that e-mails sent from jaynehat.com aren’t getting through. If you’ve sent me an inquiry and haven’t gotten a response, you are not being ignored! Please try me again at wearwithstyle at gmail dot com and I’ll get back to you. Those e-mails do seem to be getting through.
For the record, the list stands about 15-17 in line and the wait’s about five to six weeks. Things are a little slow this week because of Spring Break. My daughter has this crazy idea about me paying attention to her instead of knitting. Go figure.
This week we’re working on the Plants and Animals Girl Scout badge. To that end, today we’re going to the zoo. The weather is supposed to be absolutely beautiful, so we’re looking forward to a great time. I hope you’re able to enjoy your day, too!
Jayne hat craziness.
I’m a pacifist, but I might have had to punch that guy’s lights out. I know a gal in Canada who wore her Jayne hat to a Harry Potter screening and had it stolen – maybe it’s the same serial Jayne hat jackass who is roaming the northern plains. Ugh.
It just goes to show, even is 99.9% of a fandom is awesome, there’s always that .1% you’ve got to watch out for. I do, however, like that
