The best kind of lift you can get is the lift from doing something fun that you know will make someone else’s day a little brighter. And so, I’m feeling very good because one of my friends, who deserves only nice and kind and wonderful things in her life, received a care package and enjoyed it.

has had a little bit of a rough patch lately, so I wanted to do something nice for her. After ascertaining from her own journal, and also from last week’s fabulous conversation about musicals, that she did not own Oklahoma with Hugh Jackman, I knew she really needed to have it.

But hey, you know me. I gotta go over the top.

So last week I swapped some sock yarn for a DVD of Oklahoma for her and Lawrence of Arabia for me. Best kind of care package: cheap! Add in some goodies from LUSH, some chocolate, and a note from Hugh saying how much he enjoyed their wonderful time together. Carefully avoid mention of Hot Monkey Sex because her kids might read it.

, I know you’re a trouper and you’re really doing okay, but when you have those moments we all have where we feel a little down, I just want you to know that you have people who love you and are thinking of you.
