Find a penny…
I didn’t want to go running this morning, but it was absolutely perfect weather. About 58 degrees, overcast but not threatening rain, not too much humidity… just perfect. So really, I had to admit to myself that even though I was tired and didn’t feel like it, not going running would just be me finding excuses. I need exercise. We all do. So on days when I really don’t feel like going but know I should, I tell myself it’s like a prescription from the doctor. It may be a bitter pill to swallow, but I still need to swallow it.
I got out to the Greenway and started to stretch. As I was warming up a bit, I noticed something on the ground.
Coolest. Penny. Ever.
I’m guessing it was dropped in the nearby grass and mangled by a mower. Or possibly it was carved up by whoever smoked that homemade… uh… mostly smoked cigarette which was also nearby. Either way, it was so unexpected and fascinating that my mood immediately lifted. As a result, I had a great run.
How does it go? Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck. Or possibly tetanus, but I’ve had my booster, so I’m sticking with good luck. Hope your day is full of unexpected good things!
I once picked up a normal-looking penny that had a black-and-white enamel painting of a cat on the other side, also very cool if less an abstract sculpture than yours.
There’s no way a mower did that. That was done on purpose.
Penny corkscrew
That penny ran into a pair of Cutco scissors, trust me, I used to sell them and that was our demonstration for how “good” the scissors were. – Rob A.
