Obama inauguration
I have been paranoid all week that something terrible is going to happen, that some nut job is going to sneak in in spite of the incredible security and try to take a shot.
As of now, I’m letting it go. I normally have a great deal of faith in my fellow human beings, and that attitude has served me well for 39 years. I’m going to believe that this will be the moment of triumph that it rightfully should be. After all, it snowed today, and that’s got to be a good sign.
In other, less serious Obama news:
Woman’s puppy chews inauguration ticket. Damned cockapooblicans!
Darrin Bell of Candorville has a nice inauguration cartoon. I think I should recognize more faces than I do.
Too bad we spent all our gold in the process.

I am with you on this (the apprehension.)The JFK, the MLK and the RFK (which I actually saw on live TV) assassinations were so damaging to our country. When I see Obama out pressing the flesh along a rope line with his security people around him, most of whom are shorter by a head than he is, I feel sick with anxiety. I’m not officially “letting go” until tonight; if we get through the inauguration without incident, I’m lighting up all the dormant Christmas lights again for one last time and telling myself to RELAX!
