Melts in your BRAIN.

Em: Maybe after Christmas we can buy an M&M plush.
Me: Maybe, if we can find one, sure.
Em: Maybe you can make one.
Me: Sssssure. I can do that.

It’s just a stuffed circle, how hard can that be?

Then Em draws a picture. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Plaid. Apparently Plaid is an imaginary new M&M character (she loves the M&M characters, although not eating the actual candy).

Em: You can make her. She should have these lines. Her gloves and shoes can be white. Her arms and legs can be the same color as all the other M&Ms.

I have to make a plush plaid M&M. That’s going to take some thought. That’s the problem with being crafty. People – especially little people – think you can make anything.

Hopefully you can find some plaid fleece to use for the body. That would be the easiest.

    Sure.

You cut out two equal size circles and then place the outside sides on the inside facing each other. Whip-stitch the two halves together 3/4s of the way, then turn the circle righside out. Stuff it, finish the stitching and then fabric glue some eyes and an “M” on there.

I would take her to the fabric store to help pick out the correct plaid. I’m not sure which tartan I’d even try to match to that picture…

You could always buy a real M&M plush, remove its eyes and mouth and M, and just slipcover the plaid over the body, and re-add the eyes and mouth and M back over top…

I hit a fabric store earlier and they had a gingham plaid. I’m afraid if she sees it I’ll also have to make a dress like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

We’ll hit another fabric store – probably after Christmas.

It reminds me of one of the other Catholic schools we played sports against growing up. I was always jealous of their plaid, pretty blue and grey, while ours was red, black, and yellow. Ick.

The drawing reminds me of some famous artist’s work, but I don’t know whose!

You’ve got it backwards. That artist’s work reminds you of my daughter’s. I know which one’s more famous around here!
