Yes we can.
I don’t mind telling you I shed a tear or two. That was a hell of a speech.

I didn’t tear up, but I was definitely moved and found myself saying “Yes We Can!” right along with the crowd.
And that line about the new puppy for the girls – priceless.

It was the sweep of history embodied in Ann Nixon Cooper that got me. I remember going to the Smithsonian and seeing the suffragist memorabilia at the Museum of American History and being moved to tears. I would never belittle the emotional impact that these moments have on anyone, because clearly the events Obama mentioned affected us all. But I do think that when you’re able to compare what you can do today with what would have been possible for you personally less than a century ago… it definitely deepens the impact.

There was one aspect or I should say historical moment he omitted from his time line, which I think should have been mentioned, but I suppose I can understand why he didn’t.
9/11. I know it’s been abused by so many as some kind of selling point in the campaigns, but it was a very large moment where again, we proved we could all come together. It also was the starting point that led us to where we are now, in my opinion. Without it, Bush would not have been able to lead us to where we are, leaving so many wanting what Obama promises. But, as I said, I can understand the omission.
Still, it was a fantastic speech, and I am looking very forward to January and the years to follow.

Man I missed it. I was going crazy watching the coverage this morning so I ended up changing to something else, and then by the time I found out he won it was all over.
