Pre-wardrobe malfunction
Last night I came back from the store, and as I came through the back door, I found the yarn in my purse had snagged on the doorknob. This isn’t that unusual. However, this time the yarn was running through the doorjamb, past the closed door. Uh-oh.
I had visions of the yarn running all the way up South Boulevard, freaking out drivers, wrapping around telephone poles, clotheslining bicyclists, all with a very visible trail leading to my door. Fortunately, the yarn trail only went from the house to the car. There was a strand of yellow running through my closed car door. When I opened the door, a half-completed Jayne hat fell out.
ACK! MY NEEDLES! My poor, poor addi turbos. I’ve used this set for years. It’s done me right for more than five hundred hats. WHY, KNITTING GODS, WHY?? What have I done to offend thee?
Well, there’s nothing for it but to wait for Charlotte Yarn to open and pick up another one. The addi turbos aren’t cheap, but they’re the best I’ve used. Maybe I can get another 500+ hats out of the new one.
And speaking of new things, yarn booze yarn bills. Yeah, that’s it. Bills. Or possibly yarn.
Today, our cat goes to the vet. She’s been scratching her ear a lot lately, and we don’t want a repeat of Thanksgiving 2004 where she basically went insane with ear problems and it wound up costing us $3000+ to get it all cleared up. That is not an exaggeration. I’m going to get this taken care of early, because the cat wasn’t worth $3000, let alone whatever another health crisis might pile on. Stupid cat.
Emily’s new doll has moved up the knitting list. She’s started playing with her other two dolls more. Here she is cutting Elizabeth’s hair. The hair that I worked so hard on. Oh well, my attitude toward gifts is that once it’s yours, it’s yours. It’s out of my hands. If you choose to fire it out of a cannon, then have at it. If she makes this doll bald, so be it. I’ve got more black cotton chenille where that came from. Anyway, all the pieces are finished on the new doll, so it just needs to be seamed, stuffed, embroidered, haired, and clothed.
Gee, it sounds like a lot of work when I say it out loud.
Oh well. Cat time.
Cat update: Just like last time, she had yeast and bacterial infections in both ears. Unlike last time, the infection hadn’t tunneled through her eardrums like the sand worms in Wrath of Khan. We got off light – only $300 and two sets of drops twice a day. Also, when she shook while I was holding her down for the vet, I got sprayed in the face by cat ear cleaner and earwax.
I hate that cat.
alright, earned my keep 😉
