Kiss My Knits!

I’m participating in a swap called Fiber Godmother. Here’s the required questionnaire.

General Fiber Questions:
What are your fiber-related hobbies? (Knit, Crochet, Spinning, Needlepoint, etc.) – I knit, spin, and dye.
How long? – Knitting, if you count high school, 20 years. Seriously for the last six or so. Spinning and dyeing, less than a year.
Which are you *most* into? – Knitting, followed by spinning.
How would you classify yourself in this craft – beginner, intermediate, advanced? – Advanced, because although I don’t often get the opportunity to go for complex projects, I’m always willing to learn new things.

What is your current fiber-related obsession? – I don’t know that I really have one. It’s all about the knitting, baby!
What are your favorite items to make? – I like kicky and unusual hats. Also, I’ve got a couple of sweaters in the queue, and I’d like to make more. Socks are a given.
What are you making right now? – 1233375034 Jayne hats. Also, a pair of Regia bamboo socks and a sweater for my daughter.

What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? – Beading, and a little embroidery.

About the fiber:
Your favorite yarn(s) (brand or type)? – Wool, angora, other animal fibers.
What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? – I’m not crazy about acrylic or most cottons.
Is there a yarn you’ve been dying to try? – Nope – I’m happy to knit with whatever comes my way!
Are you a fiber snob? – Embarassingly, yes.

About the tools:
Hardwood, Bamboo, Aluminum, Plastic? – I’m not nuts about plastic.
For knitters: Straight, DPN or Circular needles? – Circs, with DPNs running second.
Favorite gadget? –
Anything you’ve been wanting to try? – One of these days, I’ll learn to crochet better.

About you:
Do you pamper yourself? Or do you generally come last? – I almost always come last.
What does an ideal day off/free hour consist of for you? – Since I got about four hours of sleep last night, right now I gotta go with napping.
Are you allergic to anything? – Lavender gives me headaches.
What is your family situation? (Partner, spouse, kids, etc.) – Husband, eight-year-old daughter.
Are you owned by any pets? – Yes. One stupid and annoying orange cat.

Your favorite color(s)? – blue, followed by green and purple. I like things in the cooler range.
Any colors you just can’t stand? – Ironically, orange, followed by yellow.
What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.) – I like fresh, clean scents and citrusy ones.
Least favorite? (Maybe you’re not “allergic,” but it makes you want to die) – Heavy florals, especially since they usually have lavender notes.
How do you feel about candy? – Wildly enthusiastic.
Any dietary restrictions? – Nope!

Is there anything that you collect? – I’m actually trying to reduce clutter. Unsuccessfully. I’m like a nerdy magpie.
What is your favorite holiday? – Christmas

Do you have an online wish list (e.g. Amazon, Things I Want)? If so, share the link. If nothing else, it will give your Godmother more ideas about your likes/dislikes. – My Amazon wishlist. Please note that I am not picky about free stuff, and am always happy to receive used items as gifts.

Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? – Yes.
What kind of music do you like? – I usually say jazz, folk, and music from the 50’s, but a look at my lastfm page shows that it’s actually a little different than that. That’s probably a good place to look to get a feel. It’s out of date – I lost the widget last hard drive crash and only just re-installed it.
Any special requests in case your Godmother wants to make a CD for you? –

Favorite movie(s)? – Serenity, The Lion in Winter, Lawrence of Arabia, Lord of the Rings… I dislike horror and wacky teen sex comedy romps.
Any “fan” stuff? (e.g. Firefly, Wonder Woman, etc.) – Firefly, Buffy, Angel, the Tick, Wonder Woman, Superman, Futurama, Star Trek… really, I’m keen on most of the geeky stuff except anime and manga. I know this is the wrong attitude, but it just all looks like Speed Racer to me.

Anything we missed? Tell, Tell! I read comics and sci-fi/fantasy. I run a home business knitting Jayne hats from the TV show Firefly. I like to take walks in the morning. I don’t get enough sleep. I am a Brownie Girl Scout troop leader. I am not a frilly girly girl.

I know I’m forgetting something here, but if I think of it, I’ll amend my answer.
