Plans!

The hubby is taking our daughter to see her grandparents next weekend. While I’m always happy to see them, I also haven’t had a lot of time to myself lately, so I’m glad to get the weekend off. And they couldn’t have picked a better one!

Saturday night, a local Browncoat will be holding a screening of Serenity on his ginormous projection TV in his home theater. I’m there!

Sunday, I’m going to the Carolina Alpaca Celebration in Concord which is just what it sounds like. In addition to the alpaca showings, there’ll be seminars. I’m signed up for one in the morning called Skirting, Carding, and Spinning with Donna Blackmon. “Learn how to skirt your fiber, card and spin it into yarn.” Sounds like a fun little adventure. Bonus: Turtlegirl76 is coming, so we’ll have each other to bounce off of as we take in the ridiculousness of it all.

Also that weekend, I’m hoping to break out the dyeing kit from Hello Yarn that my husband got me for my birthday. I’ve already done some space dyeing, so I think I’m going to get a pegboard and try to build something to let me warp the yarn for self-striping dyeing. I may also order some KnitPicks dye-your-own and wind it off in small segments to experiment with before I try the Gems yarn that came with the kit. It seems so nice, I’d rather not totally blow it on that if I can help it.

I’m feeling very chipper today. I slept extremely late on Sunday, and while I didn’t get quite enough sleep last night, I haven’t run through the energy reserves squirreled away this weekend. I was up early doing dishes and hanging out laundry this morning, and when it warms up a little, I’ll take a nice walk.

Adding to the chipperness is that my daughter and I went over to my dad’s and I measured him for his Charlie Brown sweater. I’ve got my “Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns” and am mulling over whether to do this seamed up or in the round. Seamed up would probably be better. This’ll be the first full-sized (as opposed to toddler-sized) sweater that I’ve done, so I’m a little nervous. However, my dad’s a big sweetheart, so I know he’ll love it no matter how it looks. You hear that, Dad? Act like you love it!

I leave you with a picture of the dad in question. The lighting is bad, but his nice-guy quality shines through.

I’m off to hang out another load of laundry and put the pompom on another hat to go out. Have a great day, everyone!
