I finished the last of the pre-Christmas orders (that’s ordered before Christmas, not promised before Christmas, of course) and am on the cusp of moving into 2006. These last two were cotton, and the next one is cotton too, and those always take longer and are a little rougher on the hands, so I’m taking a break!
I started up Odessa as a cap for a friend of mine, but it’s coming out too loose on the recommended needle size. In fairness, the ball band of the yarn, Misti Alpaca suri silk, doesn’t even have a recommended needle size. But no way is this “worsted” as the label says it is. DK, maybe. On the up side? Softest. Yarn. Ever.
See the holes? I want the fabric tighter, for warmth. I’m going to scale back down from a size 6 needle to a 4 or 5. I worry a little that it’ll be too tight, but I’m still feeling good that it’ll be okay, even if it does snug up a bit. Plus my SSKs are a little sloppy; I want to even those out. Pretty easy pattern so far, and looking good. I might make myself one at some point, but with beads.

My six-year-old daughter likes Pocky and surfs the internet.

And as I try to get back on my feet after internet issues, I log in to read my Dragonrealms e-mail.
I have 256 new e-mails.
Well, there went my day.

From yesterday afternoon to just now, we were without internet AND phone. I’m interested to see what tomorrow will bring.
This is seriously, seriously getting old.

I have internet access! It seems to be intermittent, but I have it! Any is better than none!
I did learn something about myself, though. I’ve been blaming the internet for me staying up too late. However, with no internet, I actually stayed up later doing other projects. One knitting project in particular I had had in mind since a friend had a new baby enter her life, and I had even ordered the yarn for it and was figuring out the best way to do it. Well, the yarn arrived, and I charted the design, did the math, wrote up the pattern, and knitted the item last night. I won’t tell you how late I was up, as my mother reads this blog and I don’t want her death on my hands.
I’ll post a pic after it’s safely in the recipient’s hands. Or maybe over in the knitting community – the colorwork wasn’t my best, but I’m still pleased with how it turned out.
In other knitting news, I finished the mondo scarf. The hubby was out of town, so I had to make do with a secondary digital camera. No, I am not complaining about having to use the second digital camera. That’s like complaining about having to take the year-old Porsche out for a spin because the new one’s in the shop.
I took copious notes, and snapped pics of the inside and of attaching the fringe so that I can work up a tutorial or pattern should anyone else be interested. Double-knitting is good stuff. It’s on its way now to a Browncoat in Canada, and I hope its double thickness keeps her toasty warm in style.
The hubby has arrived back home from his trip out of town, and I am happy. Now we can watch the Arrested Developments I recorded on Friday. Assuming I don’t fall asleep first.

Well, my connection to the internet went down last night at around 7pm, and has been down since. Looks like it’ll be down until Monday.
I’m logged in from my father’s house.
This means that tvini.com, boooomonkey.com, and the e-mail addresses associated therewith won’t work. wearwithstyle.com is up, but since the e-mail from there goes to booboomonkey, I’m basically screwed until Monday.
If you’re trying to get in touch with me, well, sorry. This is happening far too often, so I’m going to speak with the hubby about getting a new provider.
