I mailed off my first Secret Pal package the other day, since our hot streak broke and it’s finally cool enough here to send chocolate and have it arrive in a non-liquid state.
Then I got a great idea for my next package and talked to a lady on the phone who sent me the things I asked for.
And I want to keep them! I don’t want to give them up! They’re so pretty and small and cute!
Help me be strong! I got these for someone else, remind me that I should actually give them to someone else. That’s the whole point of Secret Pal! Arrrrggghh!!!
The other day I went in and saw my daughter crawling out of the dryer. It’s raining, so I go to dry some clothes today, and the dryer door won’t close. Well, it’ll close for a second, but then it pops back open again.
The cuteness of my daughter coming out of the dryer was not worth the cost of a new dryer. grumble.
My daughter, after lunch today: “What’s your favorite letter of the Hebrew alphabet?”
Me: “Umm… Aleph?”
Her: “Mine’s Vav!”
The only churches she’s ever been inside are Methodist and Catholic, and we have no Jewish family members. I didn’t remember until later that we’d found a cast-off piece of paper in a shopping cart that had the Hebrew alphabet on it and had talked about it. I know very little about the Hebrew language.
This kid has an insanely good visual memory. Either that, or she’s got some kind of past-life thing going on. If she makes a little construction paper yarmulke, we’ll know something.
ETA: She’s changed her mind. Now it’s Gimel.
Okay, the pile of Jayne hats is officially starting to freak me out. It’s like they’re massing to invade or something…

I got a package from my Secret Pal today! Why, what could it be?
It’s a package of socky goodness! A book of patterns with multiple sizes and formulas for calculating your size, a set of #3 double-pointed needles, some super-cool stitch markers and three skeins of Brown Sheep Wildfoote in my favorite colors!
Let’s take a closer look at those stitch markers, and at the colors on that yarn!
I love it! I was actually looking at some variegated blue Wildfoote when I was in St. Louis, but then thought, “no, be realistic, that’s something you want, but it’s not practical.” And here it is on my doorstep! I’m so happy, I can’t stop using exclamation points! I’m really excited about making me some socks!
Thank you, Secret Pal!
Xposted to knitting and my LJ.

For no apparent reason, my bathroom scale has begun displaying my weight in stones instead of pounds.
The aforementioned 6-page monster handout has been condensed to 4 web pages, viewable at http://www.tvini.org/DRdesign1.html
Those who suffer from Dragonrealms writer’s block may find it helpful. Enjoy!
Look what houseofdanie made for me! 490 yards of cotton chenille goodness! I could just sleep on a bed of this all day. Mmmm… happy.
Now I just gotta figure out what to do with it. I need a project worthy of the yarn!
I haven’t looked through all the Simucon photos yet, but I did want to put one up. Here’s Team Wedding:

And for a blast from the past, here’s Team Wedding from ’02. Tinsie couldn’t make it that year, so I photoshopped her in.
I had a great time, guys, I’m looking forward to next year!
