Clean bill of health
Went to the mammogram today, which was interesting. I’m a little scientist, and so when I go to this sort of thing, I’m always very curious about every aspect of it. It was also, of course, uncomfortable having my flesh smooshed into a pancake. At any rate, it looks like the lump is, in fact, just a fibrocystic doodad and nothing to worry about, so I don’t go back until I’m 40. Huzzah!
The parking deck had an elevator with an enclosed waiting area. The walls dropped down to encompass the entire column of waiting areas which were on every floor, by which I mean that it wasn’t compartmentalized boxes containing each waiting area, but instead there was room for air to circulate between levels on the sides, more like a long tube with concrete platforms.
The acoustics were amazing.
After I was done with my appointment, I went back to my floor and belted out “Dancing Cheek to Cheek” and “Honeybun” and a few other tunes. Fortunately, nobody came in, and I didn’t hear anyone on the other floors. MAN, did that feel good! If I didn’t have to pay $2 for parking, I’d go back there frequently just to sing.
In Jayne hat news, NOBODY has my Lamb’s Pride Bulky in Sunset Gold in stock. The mill apparently won’t be dyeing more for another couple of weeks. Allowing for that, it looks like the quickest I may be able to get it is 2 1/2 weeks from now. I’ve already ordered 1500 yards each of orange and red, so I can’t really change my brand of yarn at this point, and it’ll look weird to have the top in a different texture than the bottom and flaps.
I’m spending some time calling yarn shops in NC to see if there’s anyplace I can drive that may have the odd skein to tide me over. As it is, this is a serious impediment. I’ve only got one skein, and it takes 1/2 a skein to make a hat. This is Not Good.
Hats finished: 1.6
Wow. I apologize for my inability to post comments correctly the first . . . or fourth time. Maybe I should start previewing my comments more often.
You should check over at Lorien. They’re in NC, and they might have some in stock, and their prices are absurdly low. I just ordered some Naturespun worsted from them for a cardigan 😀 Gonna try my hand at making my own pattern (silver sage w/ elf green trim), whoo!
I’m very glad to hear that the lump is harmless! It sounds kinda like what I had in high school (fibroadenoma, if I remember correctly). Getting a cancer scare at any age is terrible, but at 16 it’s so frightening.

Holy moly. I wish I’d seen this before I backordered eight skeins from yarnware.com. Yarnware said they could have ship it in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, I found 2 skeins of what I need (Sunburst Gold Lamb’s Pride bulky) at the Naked Sheep in Black Mountain, NC. The two skeins are supposedly being shipped via UPS today, which is good, since I’m down to half a skein on hand. The best other source I’ve found is Oregon Trail yarn on eBay, which sells 1 pound cones for 22 bucks. considering the quantity I need, cones are more economical than skeins. Of course, she’s out of the Sunburst Gold.
Aaanyway. I’ve got two skeins on the way to hold me. I’m still going to call Lorien. And you’ve given me a new place to try to hit on my annual trip to Simucon in St. Louis! Thanks!

Feel free to call stores near 78641 or 78703 zip codes. If they have what you need I’d be happy to pick it up and ship it to ya. ::grins::

You’re welcome 🙂
I’m definitely planning on dropping by Lorien during our honeymoon O:-) I’ve been told I should also visit Wilde and Wooly while I’m there. It’s a good thing David is so indulgent of my new habit (Plus I told him that he’s allowed to bring his math books if I’m allowed to knit and visit yarn shops O:-) ).

Yay for confirmed good health! 🙂 Poor pancake boob! Mammograms scare me.
Hah! Another person who can’t resist a spot with good acoustics! 😉 I’ve been singing in spaces like that since I was about 6.
Erf, sorry for the rambly senselessness, I’m sleeeeeepy.

Gratz on the clean bill of health…I rue the day they come up with a test that pancakes unique male anatomical features! They’ll never do that though. Males have traditionally run the medical profession, so no way will that ever happen. Medicaid will pay for Viagra. How many uniquely female and nonvital medications are covered?

Very glad to hear that the lump is nothing to worry about. Yay!
Looking forward to seeing ya in a few weeks!
