Yarn stew

I dyed this last night. It’s very saturated and darker than it appears in this picture.
For reasons I cannot explain I am calling it HMS Pinafore.
I’m really pleased with how it turned out. In my opinion, it’s the best blue I’ve done. There was a lot left over in the dye pot, so I decided to use it up, and this was the result:

It was meant to be a blue and brown combo, although I knew the brown would have purple overtones. However, it was about 10pm when I got going on this, and after I added the brown I got very tired and decided to turn off the heat and let it marinate overnight. By the time I got up the next day, the brown was darker than I’d planned. And looking at the skein as a whole, it’s definitely not going to make two matching socks. It’s nowhere near evenly distributed across the skein. However, it’s still interesting and I certainly learned from the experience. Main lesson: don’t let a yarn that should go for an hour just stew overnight. Heh.
Matching socks
Since when did you care about matching? Knit this up with a slip stitch pattern of some kind and the rest of us will be jealous.

Re: Matching socks
Heh. You’re right, I don’t care about matching.
